Day Trip from Athens: Corinth Canal, Epidaurus, Nafplio & Mycenae
If you’re looking for a day trip filled with history, culture, and stunning landscapes, this itinerary from Athens is the perfect choice.
📍 Stop 1: Corinth Canal
The journey begins with a departure from Athens. After approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, we arrive at the Corinth Canal. You’ll have 10 minutes to admire and take photos of this impressive engineering marvel that connects the Saronic Gulf with the Corinthian Gulf.
📍 Stop 2: Ancient Theater of Epidaurus
Next, we head to Epidaurus, one of Greece’s most significant archaeological sites, arriving after a 45-minute drive. Here, we will visit the famous Ancient Theater, renowned for its exceptional acoustics, as well as the Sanctuary of Asclepius. Our stop here will last approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
📍 Stop 3: Nafplio
After a 30-40 minute drive, we reach the charming town of Nafplio. You will have 3 to 3.5 hours of free time to explore the old town, visit the Palamidi Fortress or the Bourtzi Castle, and enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.
📍 Stop 4: Archaeological Site of Mycenae
On our way back to Athens, we make a stop at Mycenae, one of the most important cities of ancient Greece. After a 20-minute drive, we will spend 1 hour exploring the archaeological site, including the Lion’s Gate and the Treasury of Atreus.
🔚 Return to Athens
